Exercise - Is A Must!

Now, I will be the first to admit that going into a gym was beyond intimidating for me. I figured that everyone there would judge me even more than I already judged myself. This is a primary reason I didn’t go into a gym until after I’d lost my first 40 pounds.

However, I encourage you to start working out sooner and start building muscle tone. Your skin will thank you! I’m not saying that at the end of your journey you won’t have any skin issues if you start working out from the beginning. We’ve all seen “The Biggest Loser” season finale episodes and you can see the skin hanging from their arms. But, from what I’ve learned through this journey, is that it substantially helps the skin shrink if you’re building up muscle.
Most gyms, when you join, they give you a tour with a trainer who will show you how to use all the equipment. At first, stick to the machines. They have directions on them and tell you what muscle group the exercise is designed to work. My workout schedule is on a rotation, such as:

Monday: Back and Biceps
Tuesday: Legs
Wednesday: Triceps, Shoulders and Chest
Thursday: Legs
Friday: Back and Biceps
Saturday: Legs
Sunday: Triceps, Shoulders and Chest
You get the point. I have become a little obsessed with working out now that I’m getting closer to my goal weight. I realize that most people can’t dedicate 7 days a week to work out. Start small if you need to. Don’t set yourself up for failure by pushing too much too soon. They recommend exercising 3-4 times per week. Personally, I just became addicted - addicted to the feeling of accomplishment, addicted to the energy you have afterwards, addicted to improvements being made.
Exercise is not a chore anymore. It is part of my daily life. When I don’t get to exercise, I’m not as happy a person. Before, when I was having a bad day, I turned to chocolate. Today, I turn to cardio!
